I love the colours you use in your sketches! It's so inspiring to see your drawings, I used to draw my children when they were young and you're so right, those are the most precious ones!
Thank you! I am all about bright colors and neons at the moment. Yes drawing kids can be challenging (they move ) but rewarding, using my photos more now too!
I always have mixed results with daily art challenges, sometimes they motivate me, other times they overwhelm me. The beginning of the year I committed to sketching or painting at least 5 times a week. I decided to use map crunch for reference photos. And for the most part I’ve been doing it. I’m creating more work than ever, and I’m seeing growth in my art practice.
I agree- the big thing for me is finding out what personally works, I have to be careful with my slightly squirrel tendencies not to get distracted by a new challenge, artist tip - just because others are all joining in , doing it doesn't mean I have to - what's the new saying - the joy of missing out ! Saying that i am getting benefit for committing to making art daily so I'm trying to keep that going as long as it works for me. I like map crunch too for a bit of variety, feel more like I can abstract a scene I don't know personally as well.
I recently looked through some old sketchbooks, and was surprised by how much I liked the drawings, even the ones I don’t think are very “good”. You may have inspired me to start a drawing practice again. I liked the advice, or comment about using different sketchbooks, too. I tend to be rigid about what book and what tools to use, and I think that may be why I don’t stick with it for very long!
