This sounds so great. To recognise that there are people on your life, who become voices in your head, who might not like what you actually want to make for yourself. And then to go ahead and make it anyway, that is thrilling! Your work is really vibrant and exciting.

I think there can be power in both sharing/releasing work as well as power in keeping/holding it. In the end the process and the artifacts of the process are ours.

I find the process of making can be freeing for me and sometimes it’s a slough and it’s the releasing that lets me move on a feel or understand what I am trying for to discover through making.

It has also been helpful for me to write and find connections between the things I make that I might not find through making them.

Hi - I love this, this articulates some of my feelings on the making and sharing that I find hard to explain. I think the writing (which I find the harder thing to do) has been very helpful in also helping me accept some things and where I am now, the last few days in my art practice I feel I have let go of some preoccupations, really got into the process, so perhaps it was worth toiling over trying to explain my thinking in my numerous drafts. thank you for sharing, Sonia
